Why a checklist helps
Research on checklists — notably by surgeon Atul Gawande in The Checklist Manifesto — shows that even experts forget routine steps under pressure. A show night is exciting, and excitement makes people skip the basics: checking the barcode loads, screenshotting the ticket, leaving on time. A written list removes the need to remember.
Common things people forget
- Testing the barcode before leaving. Mobile tickets sometimes fail to render without a signal. Open the ticket at home, where you have Wi-Fi, and screenshot it.
- Checking the bag policy. Several venues on the tour restrict bag sizes. Arriving with an oversized bag means queuing at the cloakroom or, worse, being asked to leave it outside.
- Allowing time for the walk from the station. Some venues are a 10-15 minute walk from the nearest station. The show-night planner helps you build this in.
- Having ID. Some sellers require the lead booker's ID for entry. Check your confirmation email.
- Charging their phone. A phone at 15% will not survive the evening, especially if you are using it for tickets, maps and photos.
After the show
- Check the time of your last train or bus home. Services in some cities stop before midnight.
- If you drove, remember where you parked. Take a photo of the bay number.
- Venues clear quickly. Agree a meeting point with your group before the lights go up.
- If you are staying overnight, walk or take a short taxi. Post-show traffic around popular venues can be heavy.
Tips for groups
- Share this page with everyone in your group before the day.
- Designate one person to hold the confirmation email or order reference.
- Agree a meeting point both before and after the show.
- If you have different seat blocks, meet in the foyer at the interval.

Questions about this tool
Can I print this checklist?
Yes. Use your browser's print function (Ctrl+P or Cmd+P). The page is styled for printing — navigation and other site chrome are hidden.
Do I need all of these items?
Not necessarily. The checklist covers the most common things people forget. Skip any that do not apply to your situation.
What if my phone dies at the venue?
Bring a portable charger. If your phone dies completely, the box office may be able to look you up by name and order reference, but this is not guaranteed.
Is this list the same for every venue?
The basics are the same, but bag policies, parking and accessibility arrangements differ by venue. Check the venue-specific notes below.
